OUR EXPERIENCE
ASI is an industry leader in dam and water resource construction. Our company is a self-performing heavy-civil contractor specializing in the construction and rehabilitation of dams (RCC, earthfill, and concrete), spillways and other major water resource projects. Our expertise in the toughest areas of heavy engineering construction, including specialized expertise in roller compacted concrete (RCC) construction, has helped us win contracts around the world. We operate throughout the USA and internationally.
ASI employees have successfully completed more than 185 dam and dam rehabilitation projects and maintains a reputation as a recognized expert in the areas of construction management, design and construction of dams, tunnels, water resources and hydroelectric facilities. Building off of that experience and expertise, ASI will bring tremendous insights and value into the construction aspects of complex dam and water resource projects.
DESIGN-BUILD SERVICES
The number of design-build projects we are performing is rapidly growing and ASI is openly embracing this project delivery method. Our personnel's expertise in water projects allows us to work extremely well with owners, engineers, and regulators to influence design elements early in the process. This early involvement almost always reduces the overall cost of our projects because we can provide advice on streamlining the construction phase of projects, where 90% of all costs are found. ASI personnel are pioneers in the design/build and early contractor involvement approach to new dam construction and dam modifications. We are recognized leaders this emerging area of dam work. ASI personnel completed the first true dam design/build dam project at the Pine Brook Dam in Boulder, Colorado and have continued this with numerous other design/build projects throughout the US and overseas.
CONSULTING SERVICES
Because of our expertise, ASI is often asked to provide consulting services at nearly every phase of a project. We consult with both owners and engineers on appropriate construction technologies, constructability reviews, value engineering studies, cost estimates, material suitability, and a wide range of other issues that are vital to any water resources project, large or small.
EQUIPMENT SUPPLY SERVICES
As a self-performing heavy civil contractor, ASI maintains a large inventory of specialized equipment. ASI regularly works with contractors around the country and overseas to provide our equipment for many of the largest water resources projects.
ASI maintains a fleet of specialty equipment that is geared to execute dam and water resource construction projects. ASI's fleet includes specialty cranes, portable concrete plants and concrete delivery equipment, small-size specialty underground equipment, and site support-equipment for dams and concrete hydraulic structures.
ASI has the ability to purchase specialty equipment and utilize this equipment on many projects over the lifespan of the equipment. This allows ASI to be competitive versus competing firms who must source equipment for a specific project.
ASI operates permanent maintenance facilities in Statesville, NC and Pueblo West, CO that allow us to modify and overhaul specialty equipment as required to service our specific projects’ needs. This in-house capacity provides ASI with better capacity to execute in a timely manner, as we do not have to rely on 3rd-party vendors for critical fabrications.
